Allegheny Hot Rolling Mill

In 2010, Siemens VAI Metals Technologies in Linz received an order from Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI) for the planning of a new hot rolling mill in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania, USA.

The plant was designed for the production of stainless steel, fine-grain steels, titanium, and titanium alloy products and is intended to meet the growing steel demand of the construction industry. The facility was built on a gross floor area of approximately 72,000 m² using over 140,000 m³ of concrete. As part of the tender process, the Graz planning consortium, consisting of Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH, Lorenz-Consult ZT GmbH, and Eisner ZT GmbH, was commissioned with the structural design of the concrete construction. The planning was carried out entirely in 3D.
