The new roof on the station forecourt in Graz looks like a belt buckle. The oval steel supporting structure with a total weight of around 570 tons is supported by only 19 supports. The design comes from the architects Zechner & Zechner.
Thomas Lorenz ZT GmbH was responsible for the detailed statics of the steel construction on behalf of the executing company SFL technologies. In addition, the steel supporting structures of the covered pedestrian access, the bicycle parking area, the platform roofs 8, 9 and the roofing in Waagner-Biro-Straße as well as the entire facade cladding of the underground tram stop were calculated.
