EXPO Pavillon Shanghai

The architects consortium SPAN-Zeytinoglu came up with something special for the Austrian EXPO Pavillon in Shanghai in 2010. A special focus was placed upon both costs and flexibility.

Invisible steel construction

The supporting structure was required to be realised quickly, in an economic way, and it had to be simple. This is why the expertise of Thomas Lorenz was required. For the complex building shape, a spacious steel construction was developed, which was geometrically customised to best suit, after which the structure was then covered.

We also participated in the competition for the EXPO 2020 and came second with architect Oliver Steinbauer.
