Step by step
Whoever drives along the Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Straße cannot miss it: the Styria Media Centre directly opposite the city convention centre. A real eyepiece. But first – one thing after the other. At the end of 2006, the ArchitekturConsult ZT GmbH won the international architectural competition to design the new Styria Headquarters. Already on board as part of the competition – Thomas Lorenz and his team. After many planning variations, the realisation looked to be far in the distance. But, in the beginning of 2013, it was finally time: Porr Bau GmbH edged out renowned competition and landed the contract for the general contractor services for the upcoming new building.
Statically demanding
The architectural draft set itself apart from its competition with a dynamic shape and a bold projecting section. Added to this are the slim form of the building and large wind-exposed area. In the end, parapet supports were used with a cleverly covered facade. The building offers around 32,650 m² space for around 1,200 people. Immediately neighbouring the site will be a generous park areas as well as a multi-storey car park.
